♫ On the Eighth Day of Giving,
The kids helped me,
Watch for the mailman,
To give him a drink of hot tea. ♫
We took a field trip to the post office last month and got to go behind the scenes to see what happens beyond the shipping counter. It’s a busy place back there! Not only that but we also got to see just how much the post office employees need to do in order to get our mail to us. It can be quite stressful with all they have to do and yet they do it day after day.
This Christmas we wanted to give something to our mailman to say thank you for never failing to deliver our mail (sometimes we’d end up with the neighbors, but it was delivered none-the-less 🙂 ). We baked some cookies and put them in a bag with a special hand written note on it from my son. We also filled up a cup with warm water and gave him a selection of tea bags and cocoa so he could have a warm drink to enjoy on such a cold day.
We had to watch down the street for about 20 minutes to be able to catch him, but when we finally saw him the kids were so excited to go out and meet him and tell him Merry Christmas and thank you for delivering the mail.
It doesn’t have to be big or expensive. Sometimes it’s the little things that mean so much.
